Cytocentrics combines nanotechnology with cell biology. The company automates the patch clamp technology to accelerate the screening of new therapeutics. Conventional patch clamp is the gold standard for the characterization of new drugs. It is not established because it is time-consuming and labor-intensive, and thus an expensive technology. Our electrophysiology instrument CytoPatch™ is designed to overcome current technology limitations and facilitate the drug discovery process for substances affecting ion channels. Reliable patch clamp experiments needs high precision microchips. The patented CytoPatch™ chip is made of quartz glass and has accurate openings with diameters of 2 and 10 µm. Additionally a smooth surface guarantees optimal cell viability which results in excellent patch clamp conditions.
