SPECS GmbH
SPECS is one of the leading manufacturers of components and systems for surface analysis,
based on ion and electron spectroscopic methods like XPS, UPS, AES, SNMS, LEED,
HREELS, and STM. SPECS produces excitation sources as well as analyzers.
One further main topic is the development and production of complete surface analysis
systems, like the ESCA system SAGE and the SNMS system INA-X, and especially
customized systems.
By new licence, a Low Energy Electron Microscope (LEEM) has recently joined the SPECS
product line, a sophisticated research instrument with unsurpassed 5nm resolution in
dynamic LEEM microscopy experiments.
The company SPECS GmbH was founded on the 1983 in Berlin. In 1990 SPECS took over
the Surface Science division of Leybold Heraeus company. In 1998 SPECS took over main
key products and some staff members from the company VSI.
Nowadays SPECS employs about 40 people in the headquarters in Berlin. Most of the staff
hold a PhD degree and have a scientific background in surface science.
SPECS has a worldwide network of cooperation partners and a sales and support network.
Since 2003 SPECS GmbH is doing the worldwide sales and marketing also for MBE
components and systems as well as the special LT-STM made by Createc GmbH.
