Nanostart AG is a leading nanotechnology investment company. The company was founded in 2003. Nanostart AG has its head office in Frankfurt, Germany. In 2008 the company established a subsidiary in Singapore and in 2011 another subsidiary, Nanostart Russia Asset Management, was established in Moscow.

Nanostart invests in young, up-and-coming nanotechnology companies throughout the world. These are companies which seek to commercialize highly innovative products or processes, or which are approaching market launch. As a provider of venture capital, Nanostart invests in those phases in which the growth in companies and their values are the most rapid and profitable. These investments are made either directly by Nanostart AG or through a fund structure. The areas of focus lie in growth markets such as Cleantech, Life Sciences, IT/Electronics and Healthcare/Medicine.

Nanostart invests not only with its financial capital but also with its “human capital”, making its commercialization know-how available to its portfolio companies along with its extensive global network, including valuable contacts to commercialization partners and potential customers.

Nanostart holds portfolio companies in Europe, Asia and the USA and in its relatively short company history has built a track record of successful exits which is unrivaled by any other nanotechnology investment company. It has to date brought five of its holdings to the stock market, sold three companies to renowned industry partners and had two asset sales. By regularly staging events for entrepreneurs, market players and investors, Nanostart fosters the dialogue between the nanotech community and financial experts worldwide.

Marco Beckmann serves as chief executive officer of Nanostart. Together with the management team, he coordinates a global network of scientists, entrepreneurs and investors who work to advance the company’s interests. The supervisory board of Nanostart is comprised of leading industry figures and takes an active role in all strategically important decisions.
